It's time for the rhythm!
Monday nights from 7pm-8pm, you can attend new beginner / continuing beginner classes. This class is for anyone new to West African Drumming or who wishes to continue where they left off.
For the more serious drummers, who have been drumming for a while, and ready to learn not only the Djembe, but also learn how to play the Dununs, intermediate/ advanced classes will be held from 8:15pm-9:45pm on Monday nights.
All classes will be held at The Music Explorium for 6 consecutive Monday nights, starting January 9th. The full fee for the beginner session is $80 and the intermediate/advanced session is $110. To register, please send an email to Ronnie.
The Class:
Learn new skills and
sharpen existing skills by learning drumming techniques, rudiments, and
cool West African rhythms. By the end of this training you will be
proficient at playing the 3 basic sounds, Bass, Tone, and Slap; and you will
also learn how to practice and play traditional African Rhythms. This class will
help you to feel confident and comfortable playing in a drum circle and in
other classes. And most importantly, you will meet new friends and have fun
learning a new skill together.

Beginner and beyond beginner classes for adults and kids over 12.
Join a fun group of folks and learn to play the djembe (African hand drum). The next 4 week series on Tuesday nights, starts Jan 10th. This is a mixed level class where we will be playing djembe and dun duns. You will learn basic techniques and how to play all the parts of a rhythm. We will also play some open drumming so you can get used to playing in drum circles and hopefully take your djembe out and about to join others in community drum circles!! Class starts at 6:30pm for 75 minutes. Location is North Raleigh Community Church at 8032 Ray Road.
No experience necessary. Drums will be available for use during class or to purchase. Beginners who are trying this for the first time are suggested to do all 4 classes, more experienced players can come anytime as a drop in!
